Hey Guys, I wanted to offer so hope and encouragement to those really struggling. I know what its like to be lost in the darkness of Panic and Wild Anxiety, a few short years ago I was completely stuck and helpless as a child, watching my life pass me by, afraid to get out of bed, racing thoughts, obsessive worry, panic attacks on panic attacks depression and the rest of it. I It is deeply deeply painful. I slowly crawled myself out of it and I want to help if I can. There is no magic bullet but you DO NOT have to live this way!! There is hope and a path forward and a future for you. It gets so much better!! I will share more of my story in the comments but I want to keep this short and practical so I here are some crucial steps I used to start breaking free, I implore you to commit to this and start the slow journey it is so worth it! THIS WORKS! Here goes.
First Understand that panic attacks only go away when you do not care about them anymore, BUT this is far easier to do when you first set yourself up for success with the proper step, to mitigate the fear and discomfort, then it becomes far easier to “face” them, and then you can start having victories.
Step 1. Read “Hope and Help for Your Nerves” by Claire Weeks (Outdated but crucial for understanding what you are going through) this woman is an angel, your guardian angel for anxiety.
Step 1.1 Checkout the Podcast “The anxious truth” for a more modern interpretation of the book above and for other great practical tactics for healing.
Step 2. Cut out Sugar, Processed Foods (anything over 5 ingredients) Ideally Breads and grains as well and all the “crappy carbs”. Also Cut out Alcohol and Coffee.
Setep 3. Add in lots of Meat, Eggs, Healhty Fats (olive oil, coconut oil, nut butters (low sugar ones) Butter, cheese, fish, seafood (I also recommend liver if you can handle it, it can really help!) – start your day with a high fat smoothie or eggs and bacon.
Step 4, Set a time to go to bed and to get up! Make it a Routine that you can hit, wind down to bed, get up at the same time every day
Step 5. Start a mediation app even 2 Min a day, this is crucial to start! (I used headspace, also Calm, 10 Percent Happier)
Step 6. Do 10 slow nose breaths 3 times per day at least! More if you can!
Step 7 Go for a morning and evening walk (build into the routine) just 10 minutes is fine!! Do it!!
Step 8 Have a project to work on!! I cant stress this enough!! Not phone scrolling. Buy a colouring book if you have too! I am serious, painting, movie editing, song mixing, drawing, writing, scribbling for petes sake, building a model, lego, whatever!!
I recommend thrifting for stuff that makes you feel good, and also selling on ebay because this can bring purpose…and money maybe..
Step 9. Talk to people about it, pick a friend or someone and just tell them what’s going on with you
Step 10. Don’t try to get better in one day!!! Acceptance is key, I know its hard but it will happen slow and sure if you stick with this stuff!!
Bonus:: Raw Liver (this can make you feel so good mentally!!) Cold Showers!! Watching the Sunrise! Having a good playlist that gets you going! Podcasts, woodworking, more walking!
